GUÍA PARA LA SELECCIÓNDE AGENTES ESTABILIZADORES PARA SUELOS YMATERIALES GRANULARES

Abstract

En Costa Rica, la variación de suelos entre distintas ubicaciones a lo largo del país es alta. Esto se debe a que la composición química y la estructura física del suelo en un lugar dado están determinados por el tipo de material geológico del que se origina, por la cubierta vegetal, por la cantidad de tiempo que ha estado sometido a la meteorización, por la topografía, y otros factores. El conocimiento del tipo del suelo con la identificación de los problemas y deficiencias asociadas al mismo, es de gran importancia ya que de esta manera se podrá identificar algún aditivo que logre estabilizar los mismos y permitan el cumplimiento de especificaciones para el uso como materiales en del diseño de carreteras.

In Costa Rica, the variation of soils between different locations throughout the country is high. This is because the chemical composition and the physical structure of the soil in a given place are determined by the type of geological material from which it originates, by the vegetation cover, by the amount of time it has been under to weathering, by the topography, and other factors. To acknowledge the soil type along with the identification of the problems and deficiencies associated with it, is of great importance since in this way it will be possible to identify an additive that can stabilize the soil and allow compliance with specifications for use in road design.
