Fase 1 ensayo acelerado a escala natural de pavimentos

Abstract

El presente informe recopila todas las etapas que fueron necesarias para ejecutar la primera fase del ensayo acelerado a escala de pavimentos en Costa Rica. Partiendo de la construcción de las instalaciones del primer laboratorio de ensayos acelerados de pavimentos de la región. Dicha fase tiene como propósito medir la respuesta de dichas estructuras ante cargas reales y así cuantificar su deterioro. Las mediciones se realizan con el objetivo final de calibrar modelos de predicción de los distintos tipos de deterioro (ej. deformación plástica, agrietamiento por fatiga) que puede presentar el pavimento; todo dentro de una mejora sustancial de los procesos de diseño de pavimentos. El informe se divide en 7 secciones: la primera plantea el contexto del estudio, con la introducción y los objetivos del mismo. La segunda sección describe los tramos de prueba que se diseñaron y construyeron para la primera serie de ensayos a ser ejecutados en el PaveLab, así como la caracterización de los materiales de las distintas capas de la estructura. La tercera sección describe el tipo de instrumentación que se le colocó dentro de las estructuras del pavimento, o que es utilizado con el HVS para medir propiedades específicas de los materiales. La sección cuatro presenta algunos resultados preliminares que se han venido obteniendo, y que resultan de gran interés en el marco del desarrollo de los experimentos. Parte de estos resultados se han incluido en anexos. La sección cinco se ha reservado para las próximas etapas a desarrollar como parte del proyecto. En la sección seis se presenta una actualización del cronograma del proyecto. Finalmente, la sección siete presenta las referencias bibliográficas.

The following report gathers all the stages that were necessary to execute the first phase of the full-scale accelerated pavement testing in Costa Rica. Starting with the construction of the premises of the first laboratory of full-scale accelerated pavement testing of the region. The mentioned phase, has the purpose of measuring the response of said structures to real loads and quantify their defects. The measurements are made with the final object of calibrating prediction models of different types of deterioration (ex. plastic deformation, fatigue cracking) that a pavement can present; all in a substantial improvement of the pavement design procedures. The report is divided in 7 sections: the first presents the study context, with its introduction and objectives. The second section describes the test segments that were designed and built for the first series of tests executed in the PaveLab, as well as the characterization of the materials of different structure layers. The third section describes the type of equipment placed in the pavement structure, or used with the HVS to measure specific properties of the materials. The fourth section presents some preliminary results that have been obtained, and that turn out to be of great interest within the framework of the development of experiments. Part of these results have been included in the annex. The fifth section has been reserved for the next stages that will be developed as part of the Project. In section six, the project’s chronogram has been updated. Finally, the seventh section presents the bibliographic references.
