Ing. Luis Guillermo Loría-Salazar

M. Sc., Ph. D.

Ing. Luis Guillermo Salazar Loría earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica in 1998. In 2007 he won the Masters at the University of Nevada, Reno, United States. Later, in 2011, he achieved his doctorate at the same American university. In 2014 he was conferred the rank of professor at the University of Costa Rica. It has been highlighted as a consultant in the field of design and analysis of materials, giving international courses in several countries in the region.

Much of his practice has been devoted to teaching at both the University of Nevada in Reno and in the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Costa Rica teaching courses in the undergraduate and graduate levels.

In addition to his teaching duties, he conducts research in the areas LanammeUCR on Pavement Design, Materials Science, Technical Specifications and Quality Control Methods for road projects. In this research, about 104 publications are derived, many of which have been presented at several conferences and journals of international repute.

Was recently appointed as member of the Committee AFK20 (Bituminous Materials) and the Scientific Committee AFD40 (Accelerated tests of pavements), both the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the United States.
